I feel like certain frames of films should be studied like photographs. Stills distributed by the studios or distributors are always for promotional purposes and don’t necessarily reflect the heart of the film. Such stills are generally taken with 35mm cameras on the set itself, not taken directly from the film. Here, I’d like to post stills taken directly from the films. It’s a nice way to study composition, lighting, mise-en-scene, costume and color scheme. Editors and directors often think on a frame-by-frame basis when constructing movies, but rarely does an audience have the opportunity to study a movie going frame-by-frame. Posts will be highly selective and a blatant reflection of what I personally find interesting. Film stills are for reference purposes only.
